Porphyria information days

We try to arrange two Open Days / Conferences a year for our members. These events help members understand their porphyria, and enable them to meet other people who are also living with porphyria.

Open Day - 9 June 2018

Our 2018 Open Day will be held at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, (Teaching and Learning Centre) Glasgow, on Saturday 9th June 2018 (9.30 am to 4.15 pm), with the support of Dr Galloway and Jane McNeilly.

The programme is still to be finalised, but there will be a number of clinical talks, presentations from people living with porphyria, updates on new drugs coming to the market, as well as lots of opportunities to chat with other people with porphyria.

Autumn Conference/AGM - 6 October 2018

Our Autumn Conference and brief AGM will be held in Reading on Saturday 6 October 2018 with the support of Professor Rees from Kings College Hospital.

The venue is the Holiday Inn Reading West (Padworth Lane, Bath Road, Reading RG7 5HT) with the .

Again, the programme is still to be finalised, but will incorporate plenty of opportunities to talk with other patients, as well as scientific and patient talks.

Both events are free to attend, but booking is essential. If you would be interested in attending, please forward the names of anyone wishing to come with you to sue.burrell@porphyria.org.uk or call 0300 30 200 30.  We will send further details out a short while before each event.

At the beginning of October 2017, we held our Autumn Conference and AGM in Cardiff. The meeting was well attended with excellent feedback about the content and the opportunities to chat with others.

We are extremely grateful to all of the speakers/organisers who helped to make the day such a success. But special thanks go to Dr Badminton and Tricia Gardiner from the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff/NAPS who were pivotal in providing excellent content and support, both in planning and on the day.
